Assistance for Students
The Academic Support Program is available for students who need assistance in their core classes.
The program offers the following:
- The student will be assigned an academic advisor and will meet each Friday. This provides an opportunity for your child to connect with his or her advisor in a safe environment. Conversations can ensue about his or her performance in a particular class, concerns that he or she has, etc. Together, they can brainstorm strategies for improvement.
- The grade-level advisor and your child will develop a Saxon Time schedule for the following week. The advisor will also communicate with your child’s teachers to better ensure that his or her needs are addressed.
- On Wednesdays from 3:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., your child will meet in room 1618 for homework assistance. Tutors from various honor societies and at least one teacher will be available to assist in any academic needs. Late buses will be available.
If you have further questions about the program or to see if your child qualifies, please contact Michael Barrs, the Systems of Support Advisor, at either 703-287-2871 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
In addition, all departments offer peer tutoring through their honor societies. Contact the honor society sponsor.
