Congratulations to our 2024 Outstanding Employees!
Every year, Langley celebrates several employees as part of the FCPS Honors program. This year's outstanding employees are listed below with community testimony to their amazing work. Congratulations!
- Outstanding Teacher, Jenny Bonafide: "I have known Ms. Bonafide since I was a freshman and she became a teacher I would always go to during Links. Her kindness helped my transition from middle school to high school be smooth and not stressful at all. Now having her as a teacher my senior year, I am able to see her immense love for teaching and the Literature course. Her excitement teaching us is infectious and I have never seen anything like it. I have never felt so comfortable in a classroom it feels like I’m at home with family. I have learned so many life lessons from her."
- Outstanding New Teacher, Audrey Quinby: "Ms. Quinby is a fantastic leader, knowing how to direct the class while still being understanding and kind. Anyone in the room can tell that Ms. Quinby is genuinely passionate about what she is teaching, and wants to help us learn. Ms. Quinby wholeheartedly cares about every student in her class and wants them to do well. She takes time to explain test questions that trip us up, and help us understand the skills we need to improve on to keep learning and getting better. "
- Outstanding Professional Employee, Lauren Lipton (Counselor): "Ms. Lipton has been amazing helping our daughter navigate through her Senior year. Starting with Ms. Lipton’s incredible customer service to explain the scheduling impact and what were the alternate classes available. Then meeting with our daughter to review her senior package. Our daughter’s feedback on her meeting with Ms. Lipton was she actively listen, asked probing questions and provided helpful feedback."
- Outstanding Operational Employee, Charlie Troen (Safety and Security): "Mr. Troen has made great connections with not just me but other students and is always fun to talk to and have a good conversation with! He has also helped tremendously around the school to keep it safe for all the students and is always active during the school day to keep Langley High School safe and secure. I really appreciate all of his hard work not only keep the school safe but also connecting with students and staff."
- Outstanding Leader, James Sykes: "Mr. Sykes is a friendly and professional member of the Langley team. He gets to know the students and parents. He really does want to know how the students are doing. We see him at numerous Langley High School events, e.g. orchestra concerts, volleyball games, other sports matches, club events, honor society inductions, and many more. We've been at Langley a long time and met many administrators and teachers. All are nice, but Mr. Sykes really is the standout. He is probably the most approachable affable administrator at Langley."
