Below is the write-up submitted by Langley HS colleague Chris Brown.

I am writing to formally commend your exemplary actions during Langley High School’s homecoming football game on September 20, 2024. With the stadium hosting a large crowd of students, families, and community members, an unexpected incident occurred when an individual from a nearby neighborhood discharged an aerial firework. The embers ignited a fire in the tree line behind the scoreboard, rapidly escalating into a medium-working fire. Without hesitation, you responded decisively. After swiftly assessing the situation, you determined that immediate action was necessary to prevent an evacuation and possible panic. Demonstrating an outstanding presence of mind, you retrieved a fire extinguisher from the concession stand and extinguished the fire, employing the P.A.S.S. (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, and Sweep) method. Your calm and focused approach ensured that the fire was controlled before spreading further, and you effectively communicated the incident to the Fairfax County Fire Department. Fairfax County Fire Department did respond and determined your action prevented a larger-scale incident. For approximately 10 minutes, you fought the fire, containing the threat and extinguishing embers that had spread into a nearby private dwelling. Your actions not only protected school property but also safeguarded the safety of the large crowd present, preventing what could have been a large-scale evacuation. Your swift and effective response reflects exceptional courage and professionalism. On behalf of Langley High School and the surrounding community, I would like to express our deepest gratitude for your heroic efforts. Your commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and community is commendable. Safety & Security Assistant Momon, your dedication to duty in this critical situation is deserving of the highest recognition. Please accept my sincere thanks for your bravery and decisive actions. You exemplify the standards of excellence we uphold at Langley High School, and we are fortunate to have you as part of our team.
