Attendance Reporting Feature 
  • FCPS is excited to announce an important update beginning with the start of the 2024-25 school year.  Parents and caregivers will have the option to submit their student’s attendance directly through ParentVUE starting the first day of school, August 19, 2024.  ParentVUE offers a more secure and reliable platform for managing students' attendance information.   
  • All Day Absences: The Attendance feature in ParentVUE is the FCPS secure web solution for reporting all day absences.

    Partial Absence: To report late arrivals, early dismissals, or to update already submitted attendance, please email  [email protected].

Transfer Families 

Come join Director of Student Activities Geoff Noto for the second Transfer Family Forum/Q&A on Thursday, September 12 from 9-10 am in the Lecture Hall. There will be a social coffee beforehand from 8:30-9:00.  Mr. Noto will talk about extracurricular opportunities for our students including clubs, athletics, honor societies and community service.

Technology Orientation

New to Langley or do you have questions about Langley technology? Register for a virtual Technology Orientation on Friday, September 13 at noon. Langley’s Technology Specialist Dr. Lindsey Fisher will talk about SIS ParentVUE, Schoology, Chromebooks, Varsity Tutors, Talking Points and other FCPS translation resources. All parents are invited.

Do you enjoy art, music and dance or have an interest in writing, producing films and taking photos? 

Then join us and have fun unleashing your inner artist with PTA Reflections! 

This year’s theme, “Accepting Imperfection”calls for your own unique interpretation through the arts. 

Entries are due to LHS on November 15, 2024. 

Students can submit an entry in one or more categories. Winners at Langley advance to regional, state and national levels. View examples of past national entries, rules and info at the National PTA website or Virginia PTA - Reflections Arts Contest

Saxon Service

Students can earn an hour of service credit during school! The first Saxon Service of the school year is Fri, Sept 27 in the Cafeteria during Saxon Time. Saxon Service offers interested students the opportunity to engage in a variety of service learning projects while earning one hour of service learning credit. Options include:

Making bracelets to support Reading students at a Title 1 school

  • Playing freerice.comto help world hunger
  • Crafting beads from recycled cereal boxes for a school in Haiti

All students are encouraged to participate! While not required, students are encouraged to participate in some kind of service while at Langley. It's an opportunity to relax, socialize and reap the positive social-emotional benefits associated with helping others. Students with at least 40 hours of service during high school (10 hours per year) are eligible to earn a Service Cord to be worn at graduation.

No-Cost Virtual Therapy for High School Students

Virtual therapy sessions are available to FCPS high school students at no cost to provide them with a safe space to address concerns such as:

  • Mood/behavior changes, motivation, grief/loss
  • Anxiety, worry, fears
  • Social skills, bullying, peer and family relationships
  • Academic stress

Class of 2026, 2027 & 2028 Activity Fee 

On Friday, September 20, 2024, students from all grades and staff will wear their class shirt to school during spirit week.  Fees include treat days during the course of the school year.  All payments to receive a class shirt must be made by Thursday, September 5, 2024.

Freshman Class Dinner | September 3 

This catered class dinner is a fundraiser for the Class of 2028 and provides an opportunity for students and families to meet staff members and other Langley Freshman families. The class dinner will be one of the only class-wide events of the year, so you won’t want to miss it! The Freshman Orientation will directly follow the dinner. You do not need to purchase dinner tickets to attend the Orientation. The dinner is at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria followed by the Freshman Orientation Program at 7:15 in the auditorium.

Here is the link in MySchoolBucks to pay for the dinner. Purchase must be made by Monday, September 2. 

Cost of dinner is $25 per person.

 College Visits at LHS

LHS will be hosting college and university admission representatives for information sessions starting Wednesday, September 4th. These sessions are for junior and senior students only. The complete and the most up to date list of visits is available in Naviance; a weekly list will be shared on the Class of 2025 and Class of 2026 Schoology pages as well as through News You Choose. 

These visits are for students only and require a signed pass to attend; passes are available outside of the Career Center. Attending class should be the first priority, students should not miss a test, quiz, or presentation to attend a visit. If students cannot attend, they can contact Ms. Burke for the admission representative's contact information.
