Senior Information

Here you are – Senior Year!  This will be unlike any of your previous three years of high school in that you will be solidifying your plans for immediately after high school.  While there is no definitive timeline, and your timeline will likely be somewhat different than those of your friends, there are going to be some dates that are firm and non-negotiable.  Be mindful of these.  Here is a general timeline and some of the pertinent deadlines for the fall of your senior year.

  • College Admissions Counselor Visits to Langley.  College admissions counselors begin coming to Langley to meet with seniors and juniors in mid-September and very early November.  Most of the admissions counselors who come to Langley are also the ones who read applications from our seniors.  Take advantage of these opportunities to meet with admissions counselors of colleges that interest you!  A schedule of visits can be found in Naviance by going to the ‘Colleges’ tab and selecting the ‘College Visits’ option.
  • Check out the College Timeline to ensure you are on track for your college plans.
  • Senior Night is held very early in the school year – first or second week.  Learn about some of the highlights of the college application process as well as Langley-specific information, like how to get your transcript sent, letters of recommendation, etc.
  • The Senior Packet.  Be sure that you download this when it becomes available.  It is full of important information and deadlines as well as two important questionnaires – one for you, one for your parents.  Completing these is very helpful to your counselors so that they can provide you with a thorough letter of recommendation.

  • Campus Visits.  Unless you have firmly settled on the colleges to which you are applying, continue to research, explore, visit, and walk college campuses.  The best website, brochure, and presentation by an admissions counselor cannot take the place of you BEING THERE on campus yourself to experience the college, even if it’s only for a few hours.
  • Meet With Your School Counselor.  This is the person who will be transmitting most of your transcripts and writing a letter of recommendation on your behalf.  Communicate early and often with your school counselor and work to formulate your post-high school plan.
